EMT : 1st week

Hi~!

This is the summary of what we had learnt in the first week for EMT.

In order to understand further in EMT, first we actually required to understand the vector algebra and some maths.

There are 3 coordinate systems that proved to be useful in studying EMT: Cartesian, Cylindrical and Spherical.

Cartesian

To understand this, we illuminate it with a cube with 6 surfaces. This cube is useful for us to differential in term of line length, surface and volume with each of the length represents dx, dy or dz.

Please note that the surfaces are the product of the lines (square = height x length) and all of the terms have their vectors at the back to represents the direction. (vector)

Cylindrical

Just in Cartesian, cylindrical coordinate is represented by dp , dz and pdphi.
Below is the table:

Much like a cube, the cake like shape has 6 surfaces too and each of the surface has its own equation.

Spherical

Please note that the surface equations for all the coordinates systems have a unique entity. The first 3 surfaces are the different from one and the others. However the last 3 surfaces sharing the same magnitude with the first 3 due to the fact that the surfaces at the opposite sides are the same in magnitude with negative vector (direction).

I don't recommended to memorize all the formulas in the table. Instead, I found it useful to just remember the line equation since we can just derive it on the spot to get the surface and volume equations.~

Regards,

Daniel.
